1 Cup Shortening
1 Cup Sugar
2 Eggs
1 Teaspoon Vanilla
1 1/2 Cup Flour
1 Teaspoon Bak. Pdr.
SWEDISH APPLE CAKE
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
1/4 Teaspoon Nutmeg
1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
3 Cups Chopped Apples
1/2 Cup Nutmeats (optional)
Cream shortening, gradually add sugar; add eggs and vanilla;beat well. Sift flour with salt, baking powder, spices and soda. Mix with shortening, etc. Add apples and nuts. Stir. Spread mix into greased 8 X 12 pan; bake at 350 ° for 20 minutes. Remove from oven, spread with topping; return to oven and bake 20 minutes longer, or until done.
Topping: Combine 1 Cup Brown Sugar with 2 Tbspn Milk and 3 Tbspn Butter in saucepan. Heat slowly until well blended.

Cream Butter and Sugar. Add eggs and syrup. Combine dry ingredients and add to cream mixture ½ cup at a time. Stir in apples and pecans and pour into a well greased baking pan (13 x 9). Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes or until done. (When toothpick comes out clean.)
